Probate is a court-supervised process to transfer the assets of a deceased person, if those assets did not have a beneficiary designation (also called Transfer-on-Death), or were not in a trust.
Probate courts in Missouri will not allow individuals to handle Probate without an attorney. Our firm can assist you with this entire process.
If you find yourself in a situation where Probate is your only option to collect your deceased loved one's assets, we are here to help.

Laura Lumaghi joined the St. Louis Estate Planning team in November of 2025. Laura is a local St. Louisan, graduating from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 1994. She received her undergraduate degree in 1998 from Truman State University with a BS in Biology. After college, Laura headed to Saint Louis University for law school, graduating in 2001 with a Certificate in International Law.
Laura has worked for 24 years as a probate attorney and a personal injury attorney, handling mass torts and product liability litigation all over the country. She also handled many guardianships and conservatorships in Missouri probate courts for those injured parties, realizing that if they had signed powers of attorneys prior to injury, their family might have been able to avoid an expensive court process to be appointed their guardian and/or conservator. She spends a great deal of time educating others about the importance of powers of attorney, as well as counseling families that have recently lost a loved one that may need to go to Probate Court to transfer assets, while explaining how that process works.
Laura is married and has two children, currently both in college. During her own time in college, Laura was able to study abroad in Florence, Italy and fell in love with travel, whether international or to local events, such as the walking tour in Tilles Park at Christmas time, a weekend at Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton, Illinois, or fly fishing at Rockbridge Trout and Game Ranch in Rockbridge, Missouri. She also spends time needlepointing and visiting antique stores.
