Our Team

Scott Keifer - Attorney at Law

In 2015, Scott Keifer's life changed while camping with a life-long friend who is a financial advisor. The friend mentioned that he was unable to find a fair priced, honest, and reliable estate planning attorney to assist his clients. The following month, Scott founded St. Louis Estate Planning. Since that time, more than 200 financial advisors and their support staff have started recommending Scott’s team for their clients and 4000 people have had their estate plans completed at St. Louis Estate Planning.

Scott personally experienced the peace of knowing that his own estate plan was in order in 2022, when he was diagnosed with a dangerous brain tumor and underwent a complicated surgery for removal. Since making a full recovery, he has become a regular speaker at financial advisor conferences. The topic he most frequently presents is: "Beyond estate planning documents… what you should be doing now (but nobody tells you), to prepare for the worst.” WashU Medicine recently featured Scott and his journey in an amazing video which can be viewed below.

Scott attended Truman State University and passed the Missouri Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam in 1994. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and passed the Missouri Bar in 1997. Scott and his wife, Claire, have been married since 2002 and have three children who attend Lindbergh High School, Kansas University and DePaul University in Chicago.

Mark Winchester - Attorney at Law

Mark Winchester joined the St. Louis Estate Planning team with a commitment to making the estate planning process as comfortable and stress‑free as possible. As an attorney, Mark understands that discussing end‑of‑life decisions and family priorities can feel overwhelming. He takes time to listen, learn his clients’ individual goals, and put them at ease. Mark believes the most rewarding part of his work is the relief clients feel when they realize that creating an estate plan doesn’t have to be difficult or intimidating.

Mark was born and raised in southeast Missouri and earned his undergraduate degree from Southeast Missouri State University. After building a successful career outside the legal field, Mark transitioned into law and graduated magna cum laude from Saint Louis University School of Law, finishing in the top 6% of his class. He was inducted into the Woolsack Honor Society and received recognition for academic excellence in multiple courses, including disability law and client counseling. Mark also served as a Faculty Fellow, supporting first‑year law students and contributing to SLU Law’s academic community.

Away from the office, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, Cameo, their five children, and their two cats, Sally and Mustacha, at their home in Cottleville. He also loves a good karaoke night with Cameo and their friends and is always ready to sing his favorite alternative and country hits from the 1990s.

Laura Lumaghi - Attorney / Of Counsel

Laura Lumaghi joined the St. Louis Estate Planning team in November of 2025. Laura is a local St. Louisan, graduating from Ladue Horton Watkins High School in 1994. She received her undergraduate degree in 1998 from Truman State University with a BS in Biology. After college, Laura headed to Saint Louis University for law school, graduating in 2001 with a Certificate in International Law.

Laura has worked for 24 years as a probate attorney and a personal injury attorney, handling mass torts and product liability litigation all over the country. She also handled many guardianships and conservatorships in Missouri probate courts for those injured parties, realizing that if they had signed powers of attorneys prior to injury, their family might have been able to avoid an expensive court process to be appointed their guardian and/or conservator. She spends a great deal of time educating others about the importance of powers of attorney, as well as counseling families that have recently lost a loved one that may need to go to Probate Court to transfer assets, while explaining how that process works.

Laura is married and has two children, currently both in college. During her own time in college, Laura was able to study abroad in Florence, Italy and fell in love with travel, whether international or to local events, such as the walking tour in Tilles Park at Christmas time, a weekend at Pere Marquette Lodge in Grafton, Illinois, or fly fishing at Rockbridge Trout and Game Ranch in Rockbridge, Missouri. She also spends time needlepointing and visiting antique stores.

Jackson Wendling - Attorney at Law

Jackson Wendling joined the St. Louis Estate Planning team with a focus on helping individuals and families create clear, practical estate plans that bring peace of mind. Jackson understands estate planning often involves sensitive conversations about family, finances, and the future. He takes a rational and thoughtful approach to working with clients, listening carefully to their goals and helping them navigate the process with confidence and clarity.

Jackson works with clients on a wide range of estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and planning strategies designed to avoid unnecessary headaches and future disputes. He brings a strong background in real estate and business matters to his estate planning practice, which allows him to help clients address complex assets such as real estate holdings, family businesses, and investment interests as part of a long-term plan.

Jackson earned his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law in May of 2025. Prior to law school, Jackson earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska, majoring in finance. While at Nebraska, he was a member of the Men’s Varsity Golf Team, serving as a team captain and was a four-year letter winner.

Outside of the office, Jackson enjoys spending time outdoors and on the golf course. He currently lives in the St. Louis area with his wife, Kayla, and is licensed to practice law in Missouri.
